Announces the Fourth Annual Pirates of Lanier Poker Run-
With a chance to win cash prizes-and much, much more!

Buford, Georgia,  May 1, 2012- Lanier Partners of North Georgia, Inc., a Georgia  non-profit organization, announced their decision to again organize and sponsor a Lake Lanier Poker Run- the “Pirates of Lanier Poker Run”, on July 21, 2012. 

We will donate our proceeds from this event to "Camp Sunshine", a Georgia children's camp program that offers an infusion of love, support, fun, acceptance and hope for children with cancer, and it's in full swing all year long and to the "Naval Special Warfare Kids" providing financial assistance to children and spouses of our U.S. military service members who serve, or have served our country. We will also take time to honor our military and civilian patriots that have served our country.

The Pirates of Lanier Poker Run event is scheduled to take place July 21, 2012 starting at 10 am.

We have many new sponsors who are helping us out this year as well making this one of the greatest events on Lake Lanier. Any business wishing to become a charitable sponsor is encouraged to contact Lanier Partners of North Georgia for more information and sponsorship fees.

We want everyone to know this is NOT a race or timed event - it is all about fun, laughter, wonderful pirate costumes, giving to the kids, and a relaxing time for you, your family and crew.

This years event will kick off with a "meet and greet" on Thursday night July 19, 2012 at Gianni’s Italian Bistro & Pizzeria at Lake Lanier Islands Resort.

On Friday July 20, 2012 everyone is invited to join in a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" raft up lunch and "stereo competition" hosted by Normans Landing in Cumming. This will give our out of town visitors a chance to cruise around and enjoy our lake as well. We will meet up at the Dam at 11:00 AM and cruise over to the Raft Up location and enjoy the great lunch and fun until about 3:00 PM and everyone can prepare for the Captains meeting.

On Friday evening July 20, 2012 Holiday Marina will host the Captains Party where the entrants can pick up their first card and partake in the wonderful entertainment and food that we will provide. The event will start at 5:00 PM and will close at 10:00 PM. At this meeting the entrant will need to sign an event waiver, pick up a numbered entry card(s), a checkpoint route instructions, score sheet, food tickets, a free event shirt and draw the first card for a poker hand.  We will also present the "Miss Castaways Swimsuit Pageant" ,live and silent auctions and let everyone "rub shoulders" with our exciting sponsors and view their displays

On Saturday July 21, 2012 starting at 9:00 a.m., each boat will leave from their home port and proceed to the lake and follow the routes to gather their playing cards.  For those boat captains who want a longer run, Windship will lead off from the dam at 11:00 AM to the Northernmost card stop. The final activity will be a "Winners Party" to be held at "Lake Lanier Islands Resort Sunset Cove and Beach club" renamed "Pirates Cove" for the day and join in the food, fun, excitement and festivities as only "Pirates" can create.

Wonderful trophies will be given out for the “Most Patriotic Boat”, “Best decorated Boat”, “Best Dressed Crew”, “Worst Dressed Crew”, “Best Dressed Buccaneer”, ”Best Dressed Wench” and “Best Dressed Wee Pirate” as well as the CASH prizes for the Poker Hand winners.
 

Great music will fill the air setting a true beach atmosphere supplied by Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project (of Collective Soul fame) along with a fantastic fireworks and awesome laser light show. Wonderful food, a 50/50 auction and raffle drawing will be available for those seeking to increase their share of bounty.

Entry for Pirates of Lanier Poker Run will be $100 per boat, with extra hands available for $50 each.
